REICHSTAG SURRENDER

O fotógrafo Yevgeny Khaldei acompanhou as tropas soviéticas na ocupação de Berlim, transportando uma bandeira vermelha atada à cintura. Sobre os escombros da capital da Alemanha nazi, entregou-a aos soldados que a ergueram no cimo do Reichstag: a guerra na Europa estava mais perto do fim. Ironicamente, o repórter foi despedido três anos mais tarde numa campanha contra os judeus.
Photographer Yevgeny Khaldei joined the Soviet troopsduring the occupation of Berlin, carrying a red flag tied around his waist. On the ruins of the capital of Nazi Germany, he gavethe flag to the soldiers who raised it at the top the Reichstag: the war in Europe was closest to the end. Ironically, the reporter was fired three years later in a campaign against the Jews.
